What is an Advisor?

An advisor is any person who has been selected by and agreed to assist a student during the university conduct process.

Who can serve as an Advisor?

An advisor or support person may be defined as: a friend, a family member, and a member of the university community or an attorney. An advisor cannot be anyone directly involved in the situation who may also be serving as a witness regarding the matter. Before an advisor can attend a meeting with the student, the student must sign a Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) waiver. This can be done in the Office of Student Accountability prior to the meeting.
